Demonstrating measurable ROI from digital engineering is just as important in driving enterprise adoption as customer mandates, e.g. DoDI 5000.97. In particular, the concept of “autonomous digital labor” that can replace or reduce human effort on routine or non-creative tasks provides a clear value proposition for management buy-in.

Syndeia, the digital thread platform from Intercax, approaches this through digital pipelines, a familiar concept from CI/CD software development here applied to system models. In this blog series, we present examples of digital pipelines automating routine tasks, executing periodically in the background while normal development proceeds in the development ecosystem.

Our first example shows how Syndeia can monitor the relationships between requirements and testing and produce human-readable reports in Confluence. Gap analysis in this case identifies

  • Which requirements have had test cases assigned,
  • Whether tests have been performed, and
  • What the results were.

Created automatically at regular intervals, these reports save the requirements engineer, the test engineer and the project manager valuable time in extracting and correlating data from multiple repositories, identify potential problem areas early, and create a permanent record for final traceability and verification reports.

By automating this process, hours can be saved in each iteration and the project can afford to create the report more frequently, identifying and correcting potential problems earlier.

Pipelines are a new feature in the Syndeia 3.7 release. Click here to learn more about all the new features and improvements in this release.

In the next post in this series, we will demonstrate a pipeline that can help build the digital thread automatically, linking requirements and PLM parts and recording the linkage within the requirement.

This blog post is the 2nd in a series of posts and demonstrations that we will share, focusing on automating digital engineering workflows and use cases with Syndeia Pipelines.
